CTC LEAF: 63,751 packages of Current Season Teas on offer met with a good demand but at easier rates.
BROKENS: Well made Brokens met with a fairly strong demand and were generally firm particularly in the first half of the catalogue. Medium Brokens met with a fairly good interest and sold readily at a drop of Tk.2/- to Tk.3/- from previous levels. Plainer types met with only a fair demand and where sold recorded lower rates. Poorest varieties saw less demand with several withdrawals.
FANNINGS: At the commencement, good Fannings were strongly competed for and were fully firm but eased a little with the progress of sale. Mediums were a good market but were generally a little easier. Poor varieties met with less demand and there were several withdrawals.
CTC DUST: 11,447 packages of Current Season Teas on offer met with quite a good demand. Clean well made sorts were irregular around last levels. Medium varieties particularly the CDs witnessed a fair demand at easier rates with a few withdrawals. Plainer and BLF categories were mostly steady with more withdrawals compared to last sale. Blenders lent strong support with only a fair interest from the Loose tea buyers.
COMMENTS: There was a little less competition in this week’s sale resulting in generally lower levels of prices. Blenders continued to lend good support but there was much less interest from the Loose Tea buyers. BLF teas witnessed less demand and there were more withdrawals this week.
CDs were an easier market.
