CTC LEAF: 47,041 packages of tea on offer met with a strong demand.
BROKENS: Well made good liquoring Brokens continued to be a strong feature of the market and were dearer by Tk.2/- to Tk.5/- and sometimes more following competition. Medium varieties were in good demand and were firm to occasionally dearer in line with quality. There was little more enquiry for plainer varieties which were about steady to slightly dearer. BLF teas met with an improved demand with less withdrawals.
FANNINGS: Well made good liquoring Fannings were a strong market and were dearer by Tk.2/- to Tk.5/- following competition. Medium and plainer varieties witnessed more demand this week and were fully firm to slightly dearer. BLF teas met with an improved demand with less withdrawals.
DUST: 11,348 packages of tea on offer met with an improved demand. Good liquoring Dusts met with a strong demand and were fully firm to dearer following competition. Likewise, their Mediums were a good market and price appreciated by Tk.3/- to Tk.5/- closely following quality. Plain/BLF Dusts witnessed better demand and saw less withdrawals compared to last sale. Blenders lent good support with fair interest from the Loose tea buyers.
COMMENTS: Blenders once again operated in greater strength for all varieties with useful support from the Loose tea buyers which resulted in price appreciation particularly for the best varieties. Withdrawals were also less this week.
Dusts were a dearer market.
